Into the Wild East
From Flores to Alor and Back

This cruise departs and ends in the town of Maumere in the East of Flores, and takes us to some of the most remote parts of the archipelago. We will sail along an endless string of islands and through narrow passages connecting the warm waters of the Flores Sea with much colder ones of the Savu Sea to the South. Excellent visibility, sunny weather, and at times strong currents teeming with fish are guaranteed during this cruise!

Leaving Maumere, we will immediately start making our way east, en route taking in spectacular dives at a steep wall to 100m at Serbete and a submerged reef top in the north of Lomblen, to name just two. Arriving in the Alor Strait, Tambora will go on anchorage and we will be navigating to and from the dive sites with our zodiacs, while trying to time the tricky currents so we can get the most out of the area’s many great dives, including The Edge, The Patch, The Arch, Kal’s Dream, Half Moon Bay, and many others. We will spend as much time as possible here in the Wild East, and then head back towards Maumere.

Our port of embarkation and disembarkation, Maumere, is a short 1 1/2hr flight East of Bali, providing for easy logistics. If you have a few extra days, the three-colored crater lakes of Mount Kelimutu are within easy reach from Maumere!
